Before the 10.5-mile drive from Rugby

The A46 works and the M6 alternative from junction 1
From Rugby town centre, the workshop is about 10.5 miles by road via the A428, the A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass and the B4082 Clifford Bridge Road. Allow around 20 minutes with clear roads, and longer at busy times.
National Highways is rebuilding the A46 Walsgrave junction, with construction from autumn 2026 and the new junction due to open in 2028. The works bring traffic management and overnight closures of the A46 or B4082. Check the National Highways scheme page for closures before you travel.
A second route is about 13 miles: take the A426 Leicester Road to M6 junction 1, follow the M6 to junction 2, then take the A4600 towards Walsgrave and Wyken. This avoids the A46 Walsgrave junction works and also takes around 20 minutes with clear roads. The map further down can show the drive from Rugby town centre.
Getting back to Church Street on the 85 or 85A
Small jobs are sometimes finished the same day, but allow one to two days. Bigger repairs take longer; the repair-time answer in the questions further down gives the usual range. Plan your journey home before leaving the car.
Without a lift, the bus is one option. The nearest stop for buses to Rugby is Wyken Green, opposite the Telephone Exchange on Ansty Road, about a 6 minute walk (0.3 miles) from the workshop.
Stagecoach routes 85 and 85A run from there through Binley, Brinklow, Pailton and Newbold on Avon to Rugby town centre at Church Street, taking about 45 minutes. Buses do not run every hour and there are long gaps, so check the 85 and 85A timetable before you drop the car off.
