Paintless Dent Repair (Medium)

At our workshop in Wyken, Coventry, we repair medium dents and creases without repainting where the paint over them is unbroken. Medium dents cost from £222 including VAT (£185 plus VAT) per panel, with the final price set after inspection. Paintless dent repair reshapes the metal without filler or new paint, so the paint already on the panel stays.

Small or medium dent?

This is one of two paintless dent repair pages; the other is paintless dent repair for small dents. They have different starting prices, and there is no fixed size rule between them. You do not need to measure the dent or pick a page before you contact us; we decide which applies at inspection.

Dents and creases that suit paintless repair

Paintless repair is only possible when the paint over the dent has not cracked, and even then it depends on the dent. Typical causes are another car's door, a shopping trolley, a ball, a gate swinging into a door or a low post while reversing. What we look at:

• Paint condition: cracked, chipped or flaking paint in the dent means the panel needs paint as well.
• Shape and depth: rounded dents with soft edges usually respond better than sharp, deep dents where the metal has stretched.
• Creases: a crease is a line pressed into the panel, for example by a bike handlebar. Soft creases respond better than sharp ones.
• Position: dents on a body line or close to the edge of a door, bonnet or wing are harder to reshape evenly.
• Access: how easy it is to reach the back of the dent matters.
• Earlier repairs: filler or a thick repaint in the area can rule paintless repair out, because filler can crack when the metal moves.

When a dent needs filler and paint

Where the paint is broken, or the metal has stretched into a sharp, deep centre, panel dent repair and respray straightens the panel, fills it where needed and repaints it. We straighten bent panels, rear quarter panels included, and can replace a bolt-on bumper, wing, door or bonnet that is beyond repair.

Metal that is torn or rusted through is a different job. We do not cut or weld metal panels. If your car needs that, we will tell you and recommend a garage we have trusted with welding work before.

If the knock was hard enough to affect how a door opens, or a light or parking sensor near the dent, have a garage check the car before regular use.

The final figure depends on the work each panel needs: how many dents it has, whether there is a crease, where the damage sits and how easy it is to reach. A small inspection is free.
