Full Body Respray

Same colour or a new one, sprayed in our Coventry workshop's spray booth, with the areas to be painted agreed at inspection.

We respray whole cars at our workshop in Wyken, Coventry, in the current colour or a new one. A full body respray costs from £1,794 including VAT (£1,495 plus VAT) and takes 3 to 7 days, depending on the work the car needs. Our company director is the main painter and the only person who touches the paint, and every car is sprayed in our spray booth.

Full respray or a smaller repair?

A full respray makes sense when the paint is faded, peeling or chipped across most of the car, or when you want a different colour. If the damage sits on one or two panels, a single panel repaint or a panel dent repair and respray usually costs less and keeps the car off the road for less time. Photos give a first view, and we confirm which job fits at inspection.

How the respray is done

We check the old paint first. Sound paint is sanded so the new paint has a surface to grip, while paint that is cracking or lifting is taken back further. Dents and bent panels are straightened before any paint goes on, rear quarter panels included. Where a bolt-on panel such as a bumper, wing, door or bonnet is beyond repair, we replace it. Each panel is then filled where needed, primed, sprayed with colour and finished with lacquer in our spray booth.

Rust needs a closer look. A rusted bolt-on panel, such as a wing or door, can be replaced like any other. Rust in a welded part of the body, a sill or rear quarter for example, often means cutting out metal and welding in new. We do not cut or weld metal panels. If your car needs that, we will tell you and recommend a garage we have trusted with welding work before.

Door shuts, engine bay and boot

Door shuts, the engine bay, the boot opening and any interior paint are agreed at inspection, so name every area you want painted. On a colour change these areas matter more: open a door on a car resprayed only on the outside and the old colour shows straight away.

What sets the final price

The price of a full respray starts from £1,794 including VAT (£1,495 plus VAT). Two things move it: the paint you choose, because paints differ in cost, and the work the body needs before painting, such as dents, bent panels or replacement parts. Colour changes are priced the same way, after inspection. A small inspection is free.

How long you are without the car

Allow 3 to 7 days once work starts. We ask at the start whether you want us to order any parts. Parts that arrive late can hold the job up, and parts you bring in later put the car back in the queue.

We do not collect or deliver cars and do not lend courtesy cars. You drop the car off at the workshop and collect it from there, so plan your own transport for those days.

After the respray

The respray carries our 6-month workmanship guarantee from collection. Fresh paint is still curing when you collect the car, and the right care depends on the paint used. Ask us at collection how to wash the car in the first weeks and when it is safe to polish or wax.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I send photos before booking a full respray?
It helps, but you do not have to. Photos of each side, plus close shots of any dents, rust or peeling lacquer, let us tell you before you travel whether a full respray is the right job or a smaller repair would do. After booking, bring the car in: the colour, the door shuts and the final price are settled with the car in front of us. From more than about 100 miles away, start with photos, sent by WhatsApp to +44 7903 105777 or with the Send enquiry button.
Can you match my car's current colour?
Yes. We start from the manufacturer's paint code and use specialist colour mixing to match it. Paint fades with age, so on an older car the code alone may not give an exact match. If the car has been resprayed in a different colour before, the code will not match what you see, so tell us. We talk the match through at inspection.
Do I need to tell DVLA if I change the colour?
Yes. The keeper must report a colour change to DVLA so the registration certificate shows the new colour. GOV.UK explains how to update your vehicle details.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No, we do not take deposits. You can cancel or move a booking at any point, free of charge.
Can you respray a classic car?
Yes. Older cars often need panel work before paint, so we look at the whole body first. Our classic car restoration page covers that kind of job.
Can you help if a respray is part of an insurance claim?
Yes. We have repaired cars for customers claiming on their insurance. We are insured, but we are not an insurer-approved repairer. Our page on insurance and accident repair support explains how we help with a claim.
