Paint Touch-Up

Car paint touch-up in Coventry for stone chips and small scratches, mixed to your vehicle's paint code and sealed to help stop rust starting.

We touch up stone chips and small scratches in car paint at our workshop in Wyken, Coventry. Paint touch-up costs from £58.80 including VAT (£49 plus VAT), with the final price set after inspection. The colour comes from the manufacturer's paint code and specialist colour mixing.

What a touch-up does

A touch-up fills a small chip or scratch with paint in your car's colour, so the bare spot is covered again and the mark is less noticeable. The spot may still show close up, because a filled chip does not always sit perfectly level with the paint around it.

Touch-up paint will not straighten a dent or put right paint damage spread across a panel. You do not need to know which repair yours needs before you contact us; we tell you at inspection.

Why chips are worth covering

A stone chip that goes through to bare steel lets water reach the metal, and rust can start there. Plastic bumpers do not rust, though a chip in their paint still shows. If you can already see rust around a chip, tell us when you get in touch, as it may need more than a touch-up.

Touch-up, polishing or a panel repaint?

Polishing takes a very thin layer off the existing finish, so it helps with fine scratches in the lacquer but cannot put back paint that has chipped away. For those fine marks, see scratch removal and machine polishing.

Where damage covers a large part of a panel, single panel painting repaints the panel, with filler and primer where the repair needs them, then colour and lacquer, blended into the paint around it. Dents are covered by panel dent repair and respray, and we straighten bent panels, rear quarter panels included. Where the paint is unbroken, paintless repair may suit instead. Our article on repainting or touching up car paint covers the choice in more detail.

Colour matching

Paint fades with age, and a car may have been resprayed before, so the paint code alone is not always an exact match. Tell us if the area has been touched up or repainted before. Our company director, the main painter, is the only person who touches the paint.

Price and inspection

The price starts from £58.80 including VAT (£49 plus VAT). The final figure depends on the paint on your car and the work needed, such as how many marks there are and how deep they go. A small inspection is free.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it worth sending photos of stone chips before I come in?
Yes, if you want our first view on whether a touch-up suits the damage before the journey, though you do not have to. A close photo of each chip and one of the whole panel show us whether rust or the number of chips points to a repaint instead. After you book, we check the chips in person, agree the work with you, and mix the paint to your car's paint code. Photos can go to +44 7903 105777 on WhatsApp.
How long does a paint touch-up take?
Small jobs can sometimes be done the same day, depending on how busy we are, but allow 1 to 2 days.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No, we do not take deposits. You can cancel or move a booking at any point, free of charge.
Can you touch up a bonnet covered in stone chips?
It depends on how many chips there are. A few scattered chips can be touched up, while chips across much of the bonnet may suit a repaint better than touching up one chip at a time.
