Brake Caliper Painting

Brake caliper painting in Wyken, Coventry, in the colour and type of paint you ask for, with the calipers left on the car or taken off.

We paint brake calipers at our workshop in Wyken, Coventry, in the colour and type of paint you ask for. Painting all four costs from £228 including VAT (£190 plus VAT), with the final price set after inspection. The job changes how the calipers look and does nothing to repair or upgrade the brakes.

Calipers left on the car or taken off

You decide which way we do it. Around 9 in 10 calipers can be resprayed without being removed, with the body parts around them protected first. Taking them off speeds the work up, as we can prep and paint straight away with nothing else to protect. Mention your preference when you book, because it can change how long we keep the car. Our company director does all the painting here. If you would rather paint them yourself, our guide to painting brake calipers at home covers the method and the faults that mean you should stop.

Colours and logos

Tell us the colour and type of paint you have in mind. Paints differ in cost, so your choice is one of the things that sets the price. We do not have logo stickers.

Rusty, seized or leaking calipers

Rust gets cleaned off before we paint. We turn down seized or leaking calipers, as those are brake faults for a garage to look at first. Some calipers cannot be repainted at all, and we will tell you if yours is one of them.

How long we keep the car

Allow 1 to 3 days with the calipers left on the car, or about 2 days with them taken off. The paint can take a wash 4 to 7 hours after it is finished, though we advise 24 hours for it to cure properly, which is why we usually hold on to the car for 2 days.

What the 6-month guarantee covers

Our workmanship guarantee runs for 6 months from the day you collect the car and covers the paint fading or flaking. Stone chips and marks from cleaning products are outside our control, so it does not extend to them. Your legal rights as a customer are not affected by it.

Having your wheels done at the same time

Book the calipers and an alloy wheel refurbishment as one job and we take £24 including VAT (£20 plus VAT) off. Our article on painting alloy wheels goes through the wheel side of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to paint brake callipers?
All four start at £228 including VAT (£190 plus VAT). The paint you pick and the labour your car needs can take it above that. We give you the final figure once we have seen the car, and we do not take a deposit. A small inspection is free.
Should I send photos of my calipers first?
It is worth doing, though we will not insist. A clear picture of each caliper helps us tell you whether we can do the job before you make the trip. Send them on WhatsApp to +44 7903 105777 or with the Send enquiry button, then bring the car in after you book online so we can see it ourselves.
Is it worth painting brake calipers?
It depends how much the look matters to you, because a fresh colour behind the wheels is all the job changes.
Will painted calipers affect my MOT?
The MOT inspection manual on GOV.UK has no line on caliper colour. It does list calipers that are cracked or damaged, and discs or pads contaminated with oil or grease, and painting fixes none of those faults.
Do I need to tell my insurer?
Check with them before the work. Some insurers ask you to declare any change to the car, cosmetic ones included, and the answer depends on your policy.
Can I paint my calipers myself?
Kits are on sale for it. Taking the wheels off means supporting the car safely and tightening the wheels correctly afterwards, and paint must stay off the discs and pads.
