Coventry Body Shop for Bedworth Drivers
Coventry Body Shop repairs bodywork and paint for drivers from Bedworth and the rest of CV12 at one workshop in Wyken, on the east side of Coventry, under a mile from University Hospital Coventry. You drop the car off there and collect it when the work is finished. We do not offer collection or delivery.
We also repair cars for drivers from Nuneaton and Hinckley. A good first step is to send photographs of the damage by WhatsApp to +44 7903 105777 or through the Send enquiry button, or call the same number. A small inspection is free. If the damage needs a closer look, a deep inspection costs from £200 plus VAT (£240 including VAT), and that amount comes off the bill if you go ahead.
The company director, a former Aston Martin technician and painter, is the only person who paints customers' cars here. No deposit is needed to book, and you can move or cancel a booking free of charge. Your quote shows the price, the VAT and the total.
Understanding Car Scratch Repair
How a scratch is repaired depends on how deep it goes. Modern cars usually have a layer of clear lacquer over the colour coat, and a mark that sits only in that clear layer can often be polished out without any new paint. Once a scratch has cut through to the colour coat or deeper, polishing will not remove it, and the repair needs paint: a touch-up for a small mark, or a paint repair on the panel for anything larger.
The method and the price are confirmed once we see the car. Each polishing stage removes a little of the surface, and we have a paint depth gauge for checking the paint thickness. Light marks are handled by our Scratch Removal & Machine Polish service, priced per panel from £120 plus VAT (£144 including VAT); deeper ones go to paint repair.
A scratch down to bare steel is worth booking in early, because exposed metal can start to rust under the paint around it.
Comprehensive Car Respray Services
On a full respray, the old finish is sanded, with chips and dents filled where needed. Primer goes on where the bodywork needs it, followed by the colour coat and the lacquer. All of our paintwork is sprayed in our spray booth.
Our Full Body Respray starts from £1,495 plus VAT (£1,794 including VAT). The final figure is set after we inspect the car. Expect the car to be with us for 3 to 7 days, depending on the work.
Advanced Paint Correction Techniques
Paint correction is machine polishing of the clear coat to take out swirl marks and light scratches. Swirl marks are the fine circular lines that show up in sunlight on darker colours, often left by washing with a dirty mitt or brush.
It works on marks in the top layer of the paint, and dull, oxidised paint can sometimes be brought back the same way. Lacquer that has started to lift and peel cannot be polished back and needs painting. We will tell you which your car needs when we see it.
For a chip or a short scratch that has gone through to the colour, a Paint Touch-Up is often the smaller job. It starts from £49 plus VAT (£58.80 including VAT).
Expert Bumper Repair and Respray
Bumpers are usually plastic, and typical damage is a scuffed corner or a crack where the bumper met a post or a wall. Many can be repaired rather than replaced. Some cracked plastic bumpers can be plastic welded and filled, and a bumper past repair can be replaced. A replacement bumper is priced in your quote after we inspect the car.
After the repair, the bumper is painted to your car's paint code in the spray booth. Our Bumper Repair page has more on this service, and a bumper respray starts from £210 plus VAT (£252 including VAT). If the bumper carries parking sensors, mention it when you send your photos.
Precision Colour Matching for Vehicle Paint
Cars normally have a paint code, often printed on a label in a door shut or under the bonnet, and we mix the paint to that code.
The code on its own is not always enough. The same colour can vary a little between factory batches, and older paint fades in the sun. Our colour matching uses the manufacturer's paint code, specialist colour mixing and a spectrophotometer. On a panel repaint, the new colour is blended into the surrounding paint, which helps hide the line where the old paint meets the new.
SMART Repair: Efficient Solutions for Minor Damage
SMART stands for Small to Medium Area Repair Technology. The aim is to keep the repair to a small area around the damage instead of painting the whole panel, which suits stone chips and small scratches on a panel that is otherwise sound.
A small dent where the paint has not cracked can often be pushed back out with paintless dent repair, and the original paint stays on the car. Paintless dent repair is priced per panel, from £90 plus VAT (£108 including VAT) for a small dent. Our Smart Repair service starts from £75 plus VAT (£90 including VAT). Small jobs can sometimes be done the same day, but allow 1 to 2 days.
Ensuring Durability with Vehicle Paint Protection
The same workshop offers machine polishing and paint protection. Polishing can lift light marks from the lacquer, but it will not undo a stone chip or a car park scrape that has gone through the paint.
Fresh paint needs time to cure before paint protection goes on, so after a respray or panel repair, ask us when it is safe to protect it. Every repair we carry out has our 6-month workmanship guarantee, which starts on the day you collect the car.
We also have pages for drivers in Foleshill, Kenilworth, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Rugby, Solihull and Stratford-upon-Avon.
